Pros & Cons
Pros
- Single ingredient, no stimulants
Cons
- No human evidence acai causes weight loss
- 'Up to 15 kg in a month' claim
Who Is This For?
Recommended For:
We would not recommend it for weight loss. Acai is a food; eating it is fine, but there is no evidence this capsule helps you lose weight.
Not Recommended For:
Anyone expecting rapid weight loss, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and anyone due for an MRI scan of the abdomen (the NCCIH notes acai may affect gut MRI results).
Summary
The sales page promises you will "lose up to 15 kilos within one month".
What the evidence says:
- The NCCIH says no peer-reviewed human studies substantiate claims that acai promotes weight loss.
- The two human studies we found used 200 g of acai pulp a day, and neither reported weight loss as a result in its abstract. Even taking the brand's "5,000 mg of berries" equivalence at face value, that is 2.5% of the amount studied.
- The US Federal Trade Commission has taken action against acai marketers for rapid weight-loss claims, including fake news sites promising 25 pounds in four weeks.
Refunds: the order page promises your money back with no time limit, but the binding terms allow 10 days from purchase, for unused goods.
Ingredient Breakdown
Acai Berry Extreme has one ingredient: acai berry extract, 500 mg per 2 capsules. The label on the retailer NuviaLab's store says this equals 5,000 mg of acai berries. No standardisation, such as anthocyanin content, is given. The German and English sales pages show no label at all.
What the research shows:
- NCCIH: "No studies in people have been published in peer-reviewed journals in the last 5 years that substantiate claims that acai promotes weight loss."
- Aranha et al. 2020. In a randomised trial, 69 adults on a calorie-reduced diet ate 200 g of acai pulp a day or a placebo for 60 days. A marker of oxidative stress fell; cholesterol and blood sugar did not change. The abstract reports no difference in weight between the groups.
- Udani et al. 2011. Ten overweight adults ate 100 g of acai pulp twice a day for a month, with no control group. Fasting glucose, insulin and cholesterol fell compared with the start. NuviaLab cites this study for blood sugar.
- NuviaLab's cholesterol claim cites a study in rats.
Correction. An earlier version of this review described Acai Berry Extreme as a caffeine, green tea and glucomannan fat burner, warned about stimulants and cited green tea, Garcinia and CLA studies. It contains none of these, and we have corrected it.
What Acai Berry Extreme does not tell you
No supplement facts panel published.
Amounts are taken from the manufacturer’s own supplement facts panel. Where a label states a standardisation, the active fraction is what we compare, because the active is what the trials measured.
Dosage Analysis
Our Dose Check compares the label with the human studies.
- Acai: 500 mg of extract (claimed equal to 5 g of berries) vs 200 g of pulp a day in both human studies. About 2.5%, on the brand's own equivalence.
- Weight loss: "up to 15 kg in a month" vs no human study showing acai weight loss.
For scale, the NHS suggests aiming to lose 0.5 to 1 kg a week. Fifteen kilos in a month is about 3.5 kg a week, three and a half to seven times that.
NuviaLab's directions are 2 capsules a day, about 30 minutes before a meal, with 300 ml of water. A bottle of 60 lasts a month.
Quality & Testing
Our Transparency Score checks five things a buyer can verify. Acai Berry Extreme scores 2 out of 5.
- Label with doses: yes, but only on NuviaLab. The German page our link leads to shows no label.
- Identifiable company: no. The German site names Key Player Limited, Dubai Airport Freezone; the English site names only "AcaiBerryExtreme.com" in Hong Kong. No manufacturer is named.
- Refund terms in writing: yes. 10 calendar days from purchase, unused goods only.
- Independent testing shown: no.
- Study on the finished product: no. The order page says its effectiveness "has been confirmed by numerous studies", without naming any.
The sales page also says the effect is noticeable "after the first tablet", while its FAQ suggests 4 to 12 weeks.
Correction. An earlier version of this review showed a "Lab Tested" badge, said it was made in the UK to GMP standards, and listed a $43 price, free shipping and a 90-day guarantee. None of this is on the brand's pages, and we have corrected it.
Value for Money
Prices when we checked in September 2026:
- German site (where our link leads, in German): €36.99 for 1 bottle, €73.98 for 3, €110.97 for 6, plus €6 by card or €14 cash on delivery.
- US site: $41.99, plus $12 shipping. UK: £30.99, plus £14. NuviaLab: $49.99.
Two refund promises. The order page says: "If this product should not meet your expectations, please send us the packaging back - whereupon you get your money back", with no time limit. The terms allow withdrawal only "within 10 calendar days from the date of purchase", in writing, for goods with no signs of use, and state that EU law does not apply. EU consumers normally have 14 days from delivery.
Side Effects & Safety
- Acai pulp "has been used safely for up to 3 months in clinical research", according to the NCCIH.
- MRI: acai might affect the results of MRI scans of the gut.
The sales page says it has no side effects and no yo-yo effect. There is no clinical study on Acai Berry Extreme itself.
Final Verdict
Our Verdict
Acai Berry Extreme is at least simple: one ingredient, no stimulants. But it promises up to 15 kg of weight loss in a month, a claim no human study of acai supports, in the same style the FTC has acted against. The dose is a tiny fraction of the pulp used in research, and the open-ended money-back promise is replaced by a 10-day return in the terms. We do not recommend it.
